Founded in 1992 by Wiley Porter, Olde Mill Music derived its name from its neighboring landmark, the historic mill, the oldest manufacturing building in Surry County.

Rick joined the team in 1995. When the Porters decided to sell the business in 2004, Jimmy and Sylvia Lowry were approached as potential buyers. Their daughter, Jennie, expressed interest, and in December 2004, she and her father took over the operation.

Rick and Jennie married in 2006 and continued to run the store following Jimmy’s untimely passing in 2007. Now, with four children, Rick and Jennie have expanded Olde Mill Music, offering a wide range of new products, services, and lessons.
